ISIA PESCARA
The ISIA, Higher Institute for Artistic Industries of Pescara is a public Institute of university level belonging to the AFAM sector (High Artistic, Musical and Coreutic Education) of the MIUR (Ministry of Education, University and Research).
It operates in the educational sectors of design, communication and multimedia using a well-tested training methodology based on the programmed access of students, the quality and completeness of the curriculum and the professionalism and motivation of the faculty.
The ISIA in Pescara was born as a decentralized course of the ISIA in Rome in 2009, thanks to the support of the Pescarabruzzo Foundation. The methodology that guides the ISIA of Pescara, inherited from the over forty years of training experience of the ISIA of Rome, is based on the presence of a team of teachers chosen from among the best professionals in the area and on the small number of students. This favorable numerical ratio allows to train in the three-year course of the first level in Product Design and Communication and then in the two-year specialized course in Multimedia Design, young professionals able to operate in the most current and developed sectors of design, communication and multimedia.
The three-year course is oriented towards the design of design and communication products; the study plan combines theoretical, theoretical/practical and laboratory disciplines aimed at providing the student with a solid methodological and design base. The two-year specialized course is oriented to the design of multimedia and interaction products and applications with particular reference to the field of cultural heritage. The objective of the two-year course is the creation of micro-entrepreneurial projects. The commitment of the ISIA of Pescara in the Abruzzi territory was concretized in 2008, even before the institution of the three-year course, in a Master in Reception Design oriented to the valorization of the cultural and territorial heritage of the Abruzzi region. The Master has been attended by about ten students most of them not coming from the specific training area of design.
In 2016, thanks to the local synergies activated during the training activities, the ISIA of Pescara has participated in the project "INNOVALAB", winner of the MIUR funding (project "Territorial Laboratories for employability"); the project, under construction, will provide for the creation of a widespread laboratory in the Theatine area that can offer students included in the age group 14-25 years, adequate equipment to carry out projects in the fields of design, interaction design, multimedia, video editing and interactive reconstruction of cultural heritage.
With the Stability Law of 2015, the ISIA of Pescara is recognized as the fifth Italian ISIA.
