ISIA ROMA

ISIA Roma Design determines, for some time now, its role and cultural mission starting from the acknowledgement of the profound socio-cultural and technological mutation of the human settlement of the post-industrial society that, in fact, shifting the focus from the discourse on needs and functions, aims, in a systemic and relational sense, to update in progress the geography of design.

The objective is to provide the student with the adequate means to identify the profound changes and translate them into acts of creation, qualifying the designer both as a bearer of renewed material culture and as an interpreter of the immateriality of our time. A person predisposed to listen to complexity, aimed at creating the innovation that signals to the world the exact cultural gap to be recovered between the catalog of goods and human making.

ISIA Roma Design has metabolized these transformations in recent times without selling off the heritage acquired in the course of its history, but rather regenerating and enhancing it. This attitude of cultural and methodological openness has made it possible to attribute new meanings to didactics, research and to the training process in general, allowing a new paradigm of the project to emerge that has seen, everywhere in the world, the Design system not only talk about something else, but also look elsewhere.

The consciousness, and the necessity, of a systemic-relational vision of the project has placed the school in the intellectual condition of evolving research, anchored to the vision and historical mission of design, seeking to explore new proposals on the theme of quality of life, new settlement systems, sustainability and new needs of the person and the community, with a constant aptitude for experimentation.

To this constellation of thoughts we have given the name of Systems Design, highlighting the systemic approach to making products and privileging a listening oriented to the function of signs, bearers of difference, rather than to the signs of function, now a consolidated feature of our methodological practice.

ISIA Roma Design deals with environment and environments, sustainability and globalization, the body and the person, mobility and telematics, part of the strategic project for human settlement, the Design of Hospitality, of which ethical design is an important segment, in search of a possible coexistence in a society perceived, irreversibly, as computerized, multi-ethnic, multi-technical and multicultural.
